Apprenticeships Work – #NAW2018

On the 5th March 2018, the eleventh annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) was launched, NAW is taking place from the 5th March to 9th March 2018 with hundreds of events taking place across the country.

This year’s theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2018 is “Apprenticeships Work” which will highlight how Apprenticeships work for individuals, employers and the country.

At KM Education Recruitment we see daily that #ApprenticeshipsWork for thousands of people every year, as we recruit specifically for the Work Based Learning sector – the rise in opportunities for Apprenticeship Assessors in various vocations shows that Apprenticeships are becoming the preferred option for employers training their staff.

Benefits of hiring an Apprentice for your business

Hiring Apprentices is an effective way for any business to grow by developing new / fresh talent and training them up to suit individual business needs.

According to GOV.uk employers who have an established apprenticeship programme reported that productivity in their workplace had improved by 76% whilst 75% reported that apprenticeships improved the quality of their product or service.

Apprenticeship Training – Workforce Development

Investing in staff training and development is vitally important for any business – staff who are invested in will become a more positive workforce, and in turn supports business growth, productivity and also contributes towards employee / employer satisfaction in the role.

Employee’s benefit from receiving nationally recognised qualifications, potentially internal / or external progression, reduced staff turnover and reducing recruitment costs.

Our Experience of Apprenticeships at KM Recruitment

All members of the KM team have completed an Apprenticeship / QCF Diploma over their career such as Business Administration, Employment Related Services (ERS/Recruitment) and Digital Marketing which has allowed us to progress and work effectively within our specific job roles.

Our colleague Becky Baillie joined us as an Apprentice at 16 straight from school, initially as an Administrator / Resourcer supporting the Recruiters before quickly progressing to become a Specialist Recruitment Consultant, recruiting nationally for large national Training Organisations, leading with quality and professionalism.

We will continue to support our team with their development whether it be further / higher Apprenticeships because #ApprenticeshipsWork

KM Recruitment celebrates 7 years in Business!

27th January 2018 marks 7 years since KM opened its doors, specialising in the recruitment of high calibre staff to training organisations nationally, across Skills and Employability sectors.

KM Directors, Kate and Kelly commented:

“ What an exciting 7 years it has been, the industry has changed so much since 2011 and continues to challenge and teach us how to be excellent Recruiters and Partners to our Clients and Candidates alike.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our Clients who have entrusted KM to fill vacancies within their individual organisations, and also to our Candidates who have put their trust into the KM team to assist them in securing new and exciting opportunities within the Work Based Learning and Welfare to Work sectors!

We are very proud of our team who consistently demonstrate their energy and passion for providing a second to none service to our Clients and Candidates – we feel this is what makes KM unique.

Our team plays a huge part in KM’s overall success and we are very grateful they are with us on this journey, and look forward to many more years in service!”

The proof is in the pudding!

Over the years we have received excellent feedback from our clients and candidates;

Employer

After taking on a new role with my employer who was using 12 agencies for every vacancy they had I knew I had to streamline the process. It very quickly became evident that KM Recruitment were going to be my agency of choice. Their customer service is second to none, I trust their opinions entirely when it comes to candidates and I know every candidate is well supported and informed throughout the process.

I always ask candidates in their telephone interview what kind of experience they have had in terms of service and support with the agency and I can honestly say that every single candidate has said KM have been brilliant, couldn’t ask for more.

I don’t feel like they’re an agency and I’m a client, we have become a team!

Candidate

“My experience with KM Recruitment was second to none. The person that dealt with my application was professional and friendly, she was always available for support and advice; her knowledge on the process and the sector was extensive, she knew what the company was looking for and always put me at ease, as I had not gone through this process for many years.

She phoned me to prepare me for the interview. Part of my interview was to put together a 15 min powerpoint presentation which she asked me to send to her via email, she took the time to read it (she did not just breeze over it) and gave feedback which was of great value.

She kept me informed every step of the way. I cannot fault them in anyway. If you are looking for a job I would recommend them as they make the process less painful and are very encouraging, supportive professional and friendly. If you are looking to recruit then you couldn’t ask for a better professional and friendly service.

If you are currently recruiting or looking for your next role within the training industry, call KM to see how we can help.

New Candidate Testimonial

KM Recruitment Logo

“The service I received from KM recruitment and Tia in particular was first class. KM recruitment really took the time to understand my employment needs. Tia gave an excellent overview of the role and the company in question and how I would be a good fit.

I was kept informed at every stage even when there were slight delays, and given a full brief on the company and the selection process. I was even given help with the Presentation and the Interview stages.

The Consultant had an excellent knowledge of the Industry and overall in terms of the service I received 10/10.

I couldn’t think of anything that I would improve however I would just like to say thanks to the company and especially Tia for a thoroughly Professional job and now I can’t wait to start.”

- Ceri – Recruitment Manager (Apprenticeships)

New Candidate Testimonial

At KM, we love to receive feedback from our candidates about the service we provide, our very own Tia received very kind words from a candidate we recently placed in a Assessor role with one of our clients.

Testimonial

“Tia Martin has been my consultant during the whole process – She headhunted me after finding my CV on a recruitment website, and she has been fantastic.

To begin with, Tia talked me through the entire interview process (it was quite lengthy) and explained what was involved. Each time I was put through to the next stage, I would receive feedback, support pre and post interview, as well as email confirmations for my own information and peace of mind.

Tia sent through a range of information and preparation aids throughout the process, and was a wonderful contact to have, as she always welcomed a phone call if I ever wanted to chase the process. Having dealt with numerous other consultants within different companies, Tia has been by far the best (and I also had great help from Kate Massey-Shore whenever Tia was off and feedback came through).

During the week of waiting before the final offer was made to me, Tia was very reassuring and shared knowledge of how the process worked with this company which was very much appreciated. “

- Gemma – Assessor

We would like to thank our candidate for their kind words and wish them the best of luck for the future, from the KM Recruitment Team.

Apprenticeship Levy 2017 – Are you Ready?

Levy

The Apprenticeship Levy is almost here; set to come into place on 6th April 2017 the Apprenticeship Levy will require employers with a payroll bill of over £3 million per year to pay a levy charged at a rate of 0.5% of their annual payroll bill. This will be paid through HRMC’s Pay as You Earn (PAYE) process.

Levy Paying Employers

If you are a levy paying employer, tools are available for you to use on the Gov.uk website to receive your levy funds, manage your apprentices and manage payments to your training providers. These tools can be accessed here; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/manage-apprenticeship-funds

To spend the funds in your account you need to;

1)      Choose your Apprenticeship
There are 2 different types of Apprenticeship available

  1. Apprenticeship Standards – Covering a specific occupation and sets out the core skills, knowledge and behaviours.
  2. Apprenticeship Frameworks – Work-related vocational and professional qualifications.

2)      Choose your Training Provider

  1. Use the Find Apprenticeship Training service (https://findapprenticeshiptraining.sfa.bis.gov.uk/) to select an approved training provider.

3)      Agree a Price and Payment Schedule
You will need to agree a full cost of training with your provider for each Apprenticeship being delivered, which will include the cost of training and assessment.

4)      Pay for training and assessment with funds through your Apprenticeship Service account
Once training has started, monthly payments will be sent to your chosen training provider. If you do not have enough funds in your account to cover the cost of training, you will be asked to share the remaining cost of training.
With ‘co-investment’, you will pay 10% of the outstanding balance for that month, and the government will pay the remaining 90% up to the funding band maximum. If your costs go over the maximum, then you must pay the difference out of your own budget.

More Information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apprenticeship-levy-how-it-will-work/apprenticeship-levy-how-it-will-work#pay-apprenticeship-levy

Non-Levy Paying Employers

Non-levy paying employers will share the cost of training their Apprentices with the government. From May 2017, non-levy paying employers will contribute 10% towards the total cost of Apprenticeship training and the government will fund the rest (90%), up to the maximum funding banding.

If you do not pay the Apprenticeship levy you won’t be able to use the new Apprenticeship service immediately to manage your Apprenticeship training. You will need to contact your preferred training provider directly and set up a payment schedule to them directly for your contributions to training costs.
