National Apprenticeship Week 2016

APP_Logo_Col_CMYKOn the 14th March 2016, the ninth annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) was launched, NAW is taking place from the 14th March to 18th March with hundreds of events taking place across the country.

The NAW launch event at London’s Shard was organised to encourage more employers to
recruit Apprentice’s into their businesses. With speakers from various backgrounds sharing their stories about Apprenticeships and how they have allowed their businesses to grow.

Business Secretary Sajid Javid said:

“I hope National Apprenticeship Week will inspire many more businesses across the country to commit to taking on an apprentice. Apprenticeships don’t just offer life changing opportunities to our young people, they also deliver for the bottom line. We are committed to 3 million
apprenticeships by 2020 because apprenticeships are good for Britain.”

NAW, coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service was created to celebrate
Apprenticeships for the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy. This event has been highly successful over the recent years with more and more people getting behind Apprenticeships and employers pledging to recruit Apprentice’s into their businesses via the online Pledge-o-Meter tool

Apprentices celebrated as greatest success of the decade

With National Apprenticeship Week 2016 (NAW2016) fast approaching, Skills Minister Nick Boles addressed the House of Commons celebrating Apprenticeships as the one of the “great successes of the decade”. He said to the Commons that the number of Apprenticeship starts across England during 2014/2015 for Higher Level Apprenticeships has reached 19,800. This is a 115% increase compared to the previous year.

Nick Boles pledged to the commons that he is going to move forward with the Apprenticeship Reform to ensure the delivery of High Quality Apprenticeships across England.

Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “We want to give all young people a chance to make the most of their talents and create a better life for themselves. That’s exactly why we are committed to creating 3 million apprenticeships by 2020.

Businesses and colleges should be congratulated for helping apprenticeships move from strength to strength. I am hugely proud of the success we have achieved together and look forward to even more young people getting the chance to work hard and get on.”
